During his tenure, he visited many countries, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Fiji, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the People's Republic of China, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Western Samoa, as well as several European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and the USA. Dr. Ganguli was honored by the Agriculture Science Society of Thailand—of which the King of Thailand is the patron—for developing the Regional Community Forestry Center at Kasetsart University in Bangkok. He is also the recipient of the Likas Yaman Award from the Government of the Philippines for his valuable contribution to the Philippine forestry sector. This is the highest environmental award given to a civilian in the Philippines.
He has two daughters, both married to wonderful American men, four adorable grandsons, and lives an active life in retirement in New Delhi, India.
