Vijay Kumar is an author, poet, and playwright. He studied engineering at NIT, Rourkela, and followed that up with post-graduate studies at IIM Calcutta.
He has worked and lived in several countries across South East Asia, Africa, Europe, the US, and the Caribbean – over a period of twenty years. He witnessed at first hand the elections in India, UK, USA, Malaysia, Barbados, and the historic 1994 elections in South Africa that brought Nelson Mandela’s ANC to power. He also imbibed the cultures and literature of all these lands. An avid reader and history buff, his meticulously researched works bring to life the world of bygone years.
His play, “1757 – When the Gods Frowned”, focused on the critical events which brought the British East India Company to power in India, was staged and received critically in Delhi. He writes in English and Hindi, and performs on stage occasionally. Vijay left Citibank as Director, and served as Advisor to the Chairman at State Bank of India. He lives in Hyderabad and works as a management and technology consultant.
