In the high-stakes world of counter-insurgency operations, Lt Col Amit Kumar distinguished himself as a fearless soldier, committed professional, and a man his Battalion could rely on blindly. From the outset, he showed relentless duty, unmatched courage, and deep compassion—volunteering for every operation, standing on the frontlines with his troops, facing bullets, performing life-saving interventions under fire, and personally evacuating casualties at great personal risk. Many soldiers owe their lives to his refusal to ever leave a man behind.
His dedication extended far beyond combat. He routinely visited the most remote high-altitude posts, braving blizzards, whiteouts, and unforgiving terrain, often trekking on foot with extra medical supplies to ensure no soldier was ever too far or too isolated. He also stepped in wherever needed—efficiently handling the responsibilities of Adjutant and Quartermaster—keeping the battalion functioning smoothly even in demanding conditions.
Above all, he was a brother to the entire unit—humble, warm, and unwavering in camaraderie. He united people, counselled when needed, and lifted spirits simply by being present. A prolific bodybuilder and martial artist, his true strength lay in his emotional resilience, sense of duty, and unshakeable loyalty. His story is one of excellence, brotherhood, sacrifice, and iron resolve. Lt Col Amit Kumar will always be remembered as a rock-solid soldier, dependable officer, compassionate leader, and a brother who never let anyone stand alone—truly “Purely in Love with My Uniform – A transformation in my life.”
