Born on 31 August 1955 in Rajgarh (MP), Dr. Prakash Chintamani Malshe completed his early education in Madhya Pradesh and then obtained MBBS degree in 1977 and MD in Medicine in 1981 from Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore. After serving in various hospitals, he reached Haridwar in 1986 and started practicing yoga along with his BHEL job. After receiving education from revered (late) Swami Adhyatmanand ji in a yoga camp, he studied the basic texts of yoga such as Gheranda Samhita, Hatha Pradeepika and Shiv Swarodaya in depth. In the background of his medical education, he has studied various processes of yoga using stethoscope, pulse oximeter and X-ray etc. and has also made many new discoveries. Dr. Prakash Malshe has obtained a postgraduate diploma in yoga from Dr. Hari Singh Gour University, Sagar.
He has often given lectures at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalayas of Jamnagar, Sagar, Mangalore and Haridwar as well as at the prestigious institute of Delhi, Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga. His articles on the subject of exhaustive laxative and on drinking air through a straw with holes have also been published in international journals. He has written four books on the subject of yoga. The presented book is the Hindi translation of his book ‘Medical Understanding of Yoga - (fourth edition)’, written in English.
