From 2015 to 2018, Prof. Rana chaired the "Appraisal Authority" in the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India, making significant strides in environmental governance. At Agra University, he supervised 45 Ph.D. scholars, many now holds esteemed positions worldwide.
A prolific writer, Prof. Rana has authored 25 books on environment and wildlife, along with 332 articles on pollution, environmental issues, and social concerns in leading journals and newspapers. His administrative acumen has earned him 31 national and 22 international awards, underscoring his global influence.
