Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalIn the blue-uniformed corridors of Mount Park School, a quiet boy finds his first glimpse of light in a girl named Afiya — a girl with a bob cut, a soft laugh, and eyes that carried the calm of a forgotten prayer. What begins as innocent glances during morning assemblies soon grows into a tender friendship and a love too fragile to name.
But life, as it often does, turns without warning. One letter, one discovery, and Afiya is gone — transferred to another school, another world. What remains is silence, and a boy learning to live with an absence that feels too alive to forget.
Years later, when destiny brings them face-to-face again through the digital haze of a video call, the past flickers back to life — not as nostalgia, but as a haunting. Between conversations about studies, dreams, and heartbreaks, they rediscover the warmth that time had only buried, not erased.
Always, Afiya is a poetic and deeply personal coming-of-age story about first love, loss, and the ache of remembering someone who once made the world feel lighter. Blending the emotional intensity of Dostoevsky with the simplicity of modern Indian life, Niranjan M K captures the quiet universality of heartbreak — and how sometimes, the love that leaves still finds a way to stay.
Because some people are not meant to be forgotten — they are meant to be carried.

Niranjan
Niranjan M K is a writer, filmmaker, and dreamer from Tamil Nadu whose work blurs the line between cinema and literature. Currently pursuing a degree in Law, he balances the analytical world of legal studies with the emotional depth of storytelling — an intersection that gives his writing a rare honesty and introspection.
Growing up in a modest town, Niranjan discovered early that stories were more than entertainment — they were escape, therapy, and identity. His childhood, marked by silence, struggle, and observation, became the foundation for his creative vision. Where others found chaos, he found meaning. Where words failed, cinema spoke. And through the lens of both pain and beauty, he learned to translate lived experience into art.
Before turning to fiction, Niranjan explored visual storytelling through short films. His most notable work, a time-travel themed short film released on YouTube, was not just a creative experiment but a reflection of his belief that art can bend time — bringing the past, present, and memory into one emotional frame. His cinematic eye informs his prose: vivid, lyrical, and deeply human.
Always, Afiya, his debut novel, is a deeply personal narrative about first love, memory, and the endurance of the human heart. Drawing inspiration from his own school years and from the emotional landscapes of writers like Fyodor Dostoevsky and Haruki Murakami, Niranjan crafts a world where even silence has meaning and love lingers like light in an empty classroom.
Beyond writing, he is passionate about Tamil cinema, music, and exploring how ordinary lives can hold extraordinary poetry. He believes the smallest details — a tiffin box, an auto waiting at the gate, a handwritten letter — can tell the largest stories.
Niranjan’s voice is one of vulnerability and reflection. He writes not to teach, but to remember; not to instruct, but to connect. Through every sentence, he hopes readers find a piece of themselves in his story — and the courage to embrace their own quiet emotions without shame.
He currently resides in Chennai, where he continues to study, write, and dream of stories that outlive their authors.
