Folktales from the Lapping Hills Nocte Folktales Retold

Author Name: Chatung Lowang | Format: Paperback | Genre : Literature & Fiction | Other Details

A collection of emotions, culture, nature, and tradition of the Nocte tribe in Arunachal Pradesh, the folktales in this book are filled with nostalgia, drama, fables, moral lessons, romantic imaginations and creative analyses of unanswered questions. The tales collected from different villages of the tribe have been translated, rephrased, and retold in a new light, while the essence of the folktales remains true to their tradition. The backgrounds, the characters and the conversations in these ancient folktales have been repainted in the colours of the rainbow.

This book is not the modern tales of the west, the middle or the east you may be expecting. It is a peek into the culture you may have never seen and a read into the minds of a headhunting tribe in the north-eastern part of India. It is as sweet as it is raw.
