Hailing from New Delhi, Anaiya Naroola is a student at the University of California, Davis, pursuing her passion in Food Science. She has long been committed to community service and is the Founder of Project Promise—a social initiative that promotes mental and physical wellness in underserved communities across India. Through this, she has educated people on meeting nutritional needs, reducing stress and anxiety, and the benefits of mindfulness, yoga, and meditation. She is especially passionate about de-stigmatizing menstruation and empowering young women to act with agency and confidence.
In August 2020, she launched a fundraiser that raised INR 25,000 to support menstrual hygiene, distributing dignity kits with sanitary pads, soap, water, and food items to 400 women in Kashipur and Ramnagar, Uttarakhand. To expand the initiative’s reach, she collaborated with AAN Charitable Trust to host an awareness program for girls and support the Kavita Bisht Women’s Skill Center through Diwali sales. In 2021, she raised INR 70,000 for COVID-safety kits for students at TARA, New Delhi. She also creates digital content in Hindi with Ficci Flo, making health and nutritional knowledge accessible for women from vulnerable groups.
Anaiya further advocates that “Nutrition is a right, not a privilege” through her latest initiative, Project Nourish, which empowers underserved children to rethink misconceptions about diet and embrace Food Literacy as a path to a healthier, more sustainable future. When not writing, she can be found experimenting with her grandmother’s recipes or pirouetting in celebration of her love for Kathak.
