The stories and the novels explore the intricate lives and dreams of women in predominantly Muslim middle-class milieu.
An avid traveler and photographer she has penned travel memories, including A Year in Himachal - Memories of an Incredible State inspired by her experiences during her tenure as Chief Postmaster General.
Recently her family memoir The Beraris was released at the Hyderabad Literary Festival.
