A. Gitashree Mazumdar is a seasoned counseling psychologist, Special Educator, and Performing Arts Therapist with over a decade of experience in integrating music and movement into psychological healing. Holding a Master’s in Applied Psychology and a Special B.Ed in Intellectual Disability, she further honed her expertise with an Advanced Diploma in Performing Arts Therapy, focusing on Music and Movement Therapy. She has presented her research at numerous national and international conferences, exploring the therapeutic impact of music and dance on diverse populations— from children with special needs to cancer patients and athletes.

Currently serving as the School Counsellor at Pragathi Central School, Hyderabad, Gitashree supports over 5,500 students while also contributing as an active member of IMTA (Indian Music Therapy Association). Her pioneering work includes using music in surgical settings and developing creative pedagogical methods combining music, dance, drama, and psychology.

A vocalist trained in Hindustani Classical Music & Rabindra Sangeet; she translates poetry, writes short stories, and performs art-based awareness programs to bridge the gap between therapy and the arts. Gitashree is a passionate advocate for accessible, evidence-based music therapy that resonates across age groups, conditions, and cultural contexts.
