While thinking about the plot of my latest book, I dozed off aware of the fact that I have to complete it as soon as possible and pitch it to my boss.
“SHIT!”, I shouted in anger!
I saw at the clock and it was 1:37 a.m.
“I am barely making any living and if this book isn’t completed on time, then definitely, I am screwed.”
What happens next when the main character of the story wakes up in the middle of the night due to a loud thump on the main door? Should I make it cruel in which the protagonist dies or should I frame it in a way that everything is messed up in her life? I should just make the plot insane.
“It’s so annoying! Why did I choose writing as my job?”, I questioned myself and my life.
Drowned in these thoughts, someone rings the doorbell.
“Who is it at this odd hour?”, I get to the main door and my roommate Anna is standing there who was not supposed to be here until next week.
Anna said, “Thank God, you were not sleeping otherwise I had to break the door to get in. I know how you do not wake up easily after going in a deep sleep.”
“But why are you here this late?”, I asked her.
“Yeah, I was supposed to be at my boyfriend’s place but change of plans. We fought and it became serious.”
“Okay, go and rest.”
I didn’t bother to ask what happened as I was in a trouble myself. I couldn’t handle more drama. I came back to my place where my room was messy and so were my thoughts. I began thinking about my plot and plugged my earbuds. It was almost 2:45 a.m.
“HOW LONG IS IT GOING TO TAKE!”, I shouted.
While banging my head on my desk, I heard another bell on the door and it was non – stop.
“Can’t Anna take that when she knows I am working! I’ll definitely lose my mind today.”, I grinned and went to the door.
And I definitely lost my mind at that moment. It was Anna’s boyfriend.
“Damn dude! Just look at the clock before coming.”, I said to him.
“I am sorry but I have to make it up to Anna. Can I go see her?”, he asked.
“Yeah, do whatever you want to do.”
I came back to my room and started writing. There were sounds of loud arguments coming from her room but I ignored. After sometime, it got quiet.
“Maybe, they sort it out.”, I thought.
I went to the kitchen to take a glass of water but what I saw there left me flabbergasted. It was Anna’s boyfriend lying on the floor with a lot of blood.
“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, ANNA?”, I asked her.
“I don’t know, I don’t know. He was trying to get back with me but then he began to speak aggressively and I got scared. He started threatening me and I just hit him with the vase.”, Anna gasped.
“He’ll die! Call an ambulance.”
“No, you can’t do that. It would get me in trouble.”
“Anna, this isn’t right. I am calling it right now.”
This argument started to get aggressive and it got worse.
“Is that why you stabbed Anna?”, asks the investigator.
“NO! I told you, she almost killed her boyfriend and then tried to do the same with me.”
“Are you telling me this is the actual reason for brutally murdering Anna and hide her in your backyard?”
“Yeah, I got scared.”
“Where is Anna’s boyfriend body then? If you took care of Anna, what did you do to her boyfriend?”
“I don’t know about him. He escaped when we were busy arguing.”
“With heavy bleeding?”, the investigator asked in deep voice.
“Probably. I mean, what can be the alternative for that?”
“Can you tell me what was Anna doing at your place late night?”
“As I told you before she was supposed to be at her boyfriend’s place but came back to the apartment.”
“But after the fight, why opted your place only?”
“What do you mean? We share the apartment.”
“NO, YOU DON’T, YOU LIVE ALONE!”, exclaimed the investigator.
“Now, can you please tell me the truth? Why did you call Anna and invite her at your place late night? It is clear from your text messages that you wanted to tell her something important. She was your only family left. Talking about her boyfriend, he is safe and sound on his business trip to Italy. He never went to your place. All you are telling right now is made up, isn’t it!”
“That’s not true. I saw him on the ground bleeding. That can’t be happening, I am not mad.”, I stuttered.
“And what do you want to say about the book that you were writing? Aren’t you writing about yourself in it? The plot is unfinished but it says how a person finishes off her entire family just because she thinks that the family is a danger to her. Why do you think like that first of all? Apart from your book story, should I help you complete your story which is still being written without any evidences that you are doing it?”, the investigator continues.
The protagonist of the story is a 22-year-old girl who is pursuing her career to become an author. She works in a company where the environment is quite toxic and it is tough to match up the pace there. Apart from this, her life is full of tragic incidents which represents her anti – social personality. She lost her mother in a car accident due to the failure of the brakes but coincidentally just before her, the protagonist drove it and it was completely fine. Seems like someone intentionally damaged the brakes. She lost her father when they went for fishing. Accidently, she fell into the water and her father jumped after to save her. But the weird thing was that the father drowned and the girl lived despite the fact that he knew how to swim and she didn’t. And this time, she calls her sister and stabs her. Just accept it and stop making unreasonable excuses. You have delusional disorder and can’t differentiate what’s real and what’s your imagination. You need psychological help. You have been living in your mind and you have made up this whole scenario in your mind just because you do not feel guilty for what dark things you are doing. You have practically killed your family and still act innocent!
“THE TIME FOR YOUR SESSION IS UP.”, says the doctor.
The doctor takes Brandy with her and escorts her to the padded cell 007.
“This is your fifth time with this patient and still you are not able to comprehend what is actually going on in her mind.”
“You know it’s complicated when the criminal is smart enough to play with her words every time.”, says the investigator.
“Brandy has been in this mental asylum for seven months and accused of murdering her whole family but nobody has found neither single evidence nor a confession. I think she’s innocent and just not has proper confession or explanation to let herself out.”
Returning to her cell, Brandy sits down and someone whispers in her ear, “Good job! You will be in my protection since you have acted on all of my commands sincerely.”, a black shadowy figure disappears from her room as she starts sobbing.
