[ATLANTA, GEORGIA, USA]
"Ame, get inside the car", Sarah instructed.
"Momma! Are we leaving our home?", Amelia interrogated when the car started to move.
"Yeah.We are drifting to California", Abraham acknowledged while driving.
"Dad, where would we stay in California?Is any of our relatives residing there?", Austin and Amelia queried one after the other.
"Don't worry my dear kids. Your dad have bought a villa for you . It's our own home", Sarah elated .
Abraham and Sarah were the middle class couple who lived in Atlanta with their children.
Abraham's intention was to become the owner of a big home. But half of his lifetime was spent in rent house. After so many struggles he bought a villa in Loyalton .
Loyalton was the loneliest city of California. Hence most people would not come forward to buy house there.
Since the price was affordable, Abraham procured the villa . He became the proprietor of his dream home at Loyalton , California, USA.
They were ready to start anew, living their lives happily ever after.
After one and half a day of travel Abraham and family reached their new home.
It was an antiquated Villa. It appeared to be built approximately hundred years earlier . It viewed very distinctive. The villa had a huge gardenland in the backyard. But the garden was under the control of bushes.
The majestic look of villa enlarged their exultation. Amelia and Austin ran into the villa with enthusiasm.
The ancient furniture were covered with dust and spiders. Abraham, Sarah, Ame and Austin commenced singing their family song with delight alongside scouring the mansion.
After two days Abraham left to Tokyo regarding the project work of his company.
Before leaving he embraced his son and daughter bidding farewell.
DAY 4 IN THE VILLA >>
"Ame! your eyes are so restless. Didn't you sleep well yesterday?", asked Sarah.
Ame mourned,"No momma.. "
"Last night I heard a noise outside our room. It sounded like voice of a man and I also detected an acrid smell of cigarette smoke. I was really petrified to call you momma", Ame said uneasily.
"Oh Amelia ! all these are nightmare . If you are scared to sleep in your room, come upstairs ", Sarah convinced her. She also warned , "Henceforth I won't permit you to read horror stories".
Sarah was unlocking the garden gate.
"Mommaaaaaaa, come here! see what Austy did",Ame screamed.
Sarah raced to the hallway. She saw an antique radio lying on the floor. It was partly shattered .
" Austy, What have you done ? You are so waggish now a days", Sarah rebuked.
"Momma.. I just tried to mount on the table. I didn't notice the radio falling. Pardon me", Austin stated.
Sarah didn't take any steps to refix the radio. She left it as it was.
Midnight 2.00 am...
Sarah heard a mumble sound . She slowly opened her eyes. There was an old woman standing in the entrance of the room.
She gingerly moved towards Sarah. In the rays of moonlight penetrating into the room, the lady's face looked dreadful..
Her smokey eyes were dark red. Her eyeballs were protruding. There was a thick blood flowing from her jaws till her neck.she had a black splited tongue. Her teeth were almost decayed.
Her Grey hairs looked like it was not combed for several years. She was very lean like bones are simply covered by skin.
Sarah could not realize what was happening. By the time the lady started speaking.
"You fool! Why did you break my radio? I want my husband's radio back.
He talks to me daily in that radio. I'm dying without hearing his voice. You people are staying in my home and destroying my lonely happy life", her voice trembled in sorrow.
Suddenly with a grudge in her voice and grabbing Sarah's neck she screamed vigorously , "Get out of my home as soon as possible. Or else you will be sent to hell. You have the most irritating kids. Take them away from me soon".
Sarah got up from her bed screaming for help as soon as the old lady vanished into the air. She noted that the entrance of her room was empty. Amelia and Austin were sleeping by her side. She was perplexed.
Sarah spent a sleepless night. As soon as she spotted the sunlight infiltrating the windows, she called Abraham and explained her last night.
"Stop prattling Sarah. Don't be inane. These are called hallucination. They won't let you sleep. Don't worry. Take care of yourself and our children. I will be back soon", Abraham consoled and hanged up the call.
Sarah couldn't accept his consolation. She wanted to find the truth about the lady.
She tried to refix the radio. She screwed the loosened parts and finally made it ready. She couldn't find any casette inside it. So she started searching the casette everywhere in the home.
When she opened a closet of storeroom, she found an unlocked courrier. It carried the FROM and TO address.
From:David kingston,
Army General,
USA.
To:Esther Genica,
765w santiona road,
Loyalton, California.
Yes!! It was their address. Sarah was startled. She found a cassette inside the courrier. She ran towards the radio.
She inserted the casette and played the radio.
The old radio's worn speakers still crackled to life.
"Hello honey.. Are you fine? First of all I'm sorry that I couldn't meet you before I leave for war. I'm just busy with making my army arrangements. Afterall I had time for recording my voice in this casette for you. I know you will be all alone in our home. I will also miss you more than you do. I hope that I will come soon to home as soon as we taste our victory. Until then bye bye sweetheart ".
After hearing this Sarah could partially assume what had happened. But still she wanted to prove it to Abraham.
She started investigating her distant neighbours. Most of them didn't knew about the villa. Only few old people were familiar with the history of that villa.
They said, "David Kingston, General of Marine Army was the owner of the villa eighty years ago. He and his wife Esther were the only people in the home. They had no children. They longed to have a child.
Esther will always be alone in the home hearing songs in the radio. It was her only companion. After her husband left to the war, she spent everyday listening to the war news.
Unfortunately she heard the demise of her husband in the war through the radio. After his funeral Esther was no longer normal. She became utterly insane. She spent every day alone in her room with the radio. She never ate or drank.
She had acted harsely to the children playing near her home. She started smoking vigorously. After twenty days she hanged herself in the storeroom. She also left a letter stating that she could never leave the home and she wanted herself to be buried in her garden".
After hearing these details, Sarah hurried to the garden. There she found the cemetery of Esther. She stood aghasted.
She tried to convey this to Abraham. But he said that he was unable to take any step in drifting again. Because he invested all of his money in this villa. He pleaded her to stay patient until he return home.
That was the last call he had spoken to Sarah. Even after three weeks he didn't got any call from his wife.
He was worried and was planning to return. In few hours he received a call from home. It was Ame on the other side.
"My dear! What happened to you?why didn't Momma called me since three weeks?", Abraham asked with a concern.
"Dad.......", Ame's voice trembled.
She continued, "Momma is acting in an abnormal manner. She became very rude with us. She is always preferring to stay alone. She hears the same voice record again and again in the radio. She pretends to eat and drink. Most of all she started smoking".
Abraham understood that Ame was crying in the otherside. He left bewildered. He just wanted to rush to his home.
He said, "Ame, Don't cry.. Dad is about to pick a ship. I will be home soon. Take care of mom".
Before he complete his talk Sarah aggressively grabbed the mobile from Ame.
She charged on her suddenly. She threw Ame and Austin into the storeroom and locked it.
It took 17 long days for Abraham to travel from Asia to USA by ship. Finally he reached his home.
He ran towards the hallway. He saw a thin woman sitting with her one hand kept on the handle of the radio and the other hand holding a half smoked cigarette . She moreover looked like a statue. When he moved closed to her he was astonished. It was his wife Sarah. He knelt down to her.
He detected that she died while she was hearing the radio.
Abraham cried in agony. He couldn't see the witched face of his dead wife. He sobbed on his fate.
He started searching for his children. At last he broke the lock of the storeroom and rescued his children. They were in the unconscious state. Because they were locked in the room for 17 days without food and water.
After few weeks........
Standing in front of the cemetery of their mom in the garden , Ame and Austin bid a tearful goodbye to her. Abraham gifted Sarah's favorite tulips bouquet to her cemetery . His eyes teared up with the memories of his lovable wife.
Abraham, Amelia and Austin started their journey to Atlanta. But this time it was a miserable journey.
Inside the villa of Loyalton..
"Hello honey.. Are you fine?... ", the RADIO started playing.
