Arjun's story revolves around his obsession, passion, and madness for the Indian army.
The military environment had deeply influenced his upbringing. He was a nerd in school, rarely visiting the playgrounds with only one friend, Vijay, who was the opposite of Arjun in every way.
Jai, Arjun's father, made it difficult for Arjun to pursue his dream of joining the military, as he hated it. Somehow, Arjun got Jai's permission to join NCC, and his obsession with the military became a passion.
He also met Shiva at the NCC camp and learned to socialize only because of her. They became good friends and developed feelings for each other, which they shared after two years.
Arjun was restricted from appearing in the RDC camp and NDA exams. The repeated restrictions resulted in arguments and a big fight with Jai. Somehow, he made a deal with his father that until his graduation, he wouldn't involve himself with the army in any way, but later, his dad wouldn't interfere in his career decisions.
After some years, both Arjun and Vijay appeared for the CDS exam, but only Arjun cleared it. Vijay, who had faced academic comparisons with Arjun since childhood, always felt jealousy toward him. Meanwhile, Shiva received an acceptance letter for a master's in computer science from a prestigious UK college.
The story takes a turn when Arjun fails in the medical examination. After a month of grief, he desperately sought solutions, including black magic and bribery.
During this time, an army officer explained that his disability could be a liability for the army. He offered hope through sports quota recruitment and honorary ranks for sportspersons, which had relaxed medical requirements.
Following his advice, Arjun adopted an officer's disciplined lifestyle, with early wake-ups, timely sleep, morning runs, regular eating habits, and reading routines.
Surprisingly, Shiva became an army officer, just because she wanted to keep Arjun close to the military environment. Arjun took up shooting under the coaching of Col. Singh, a retired army coach.
He failed within six months due to compatibility issues with a gun and shifted to archery. After 6 months, Vijay too cleared the CDS exams, and his father teased Jai, reversing what Jai had done for 20 years. Jai’s irritation turned to frustration upon learning that Arjun had only played sports that year. When Jai tried to stop him, Arjun refused, prompting Jai to cut him off financially.
Arjun struggled to balance side jobs and training, resulting in average performance. He considered giving up but regained motivation after witnessing Shiva's pipping ceremony.
Seeking a less popular sport with less competition, Arjun picked squash after six months of archery. Due to a lack of opportunities in his city, his fate remained unchanged, wasting one more year.
With Arjun's repeated failures, Col. Singh refused to guide him anymore, but Arjun managed to convince him again by winning a medal, and they chose weightlifting as the next sport. As Arjun kept changing sports, Shiva began losing faith in him, leading to arguments and growing distance. Despite his best efforts, Arjun failed again due to body recovery issues.
After learning about Shiva, Arjun's grandfather, Daata, his only family support, also distanced himself. Disturbed by his failing relationships, Arjun struggled emotionally. Meanwhile, he was supposed to choose between rugby and kabaddi for his next sport, after proper research. Feeling lost and uncertain, he randomly chose rugby on the last registration day.
After four months of intense training, Arjun earned the pivotal role of fly-half. The stamina from squash and morning runs, strength from weightlifting, and a year of training secured him a place on the state's rugby team. This happiness led Shiva to talk to her father, Col. Sharma, about Arjun, and he agreed to meet Arjun at his retirement party.
Two days before the party, Arjun discovered that rugby wasn't on the army's list of sports quotas, and he quit rugby immediately. High on emotions, Col. Sharma announced Arjun as Shiva's partner at the party. Before Arjun could explain about rugby, Col. Sharma found out from someone else and felt cheated. When Shiva learned about it, she asked Arjun to choose between the army and her. Arjun, who didn't want to give up, tried to calm things down, but Shiva saw it as his hesitation to choose her over the military. She got agitated and broke up with Arjun.
Arjun tried to contact Shiva but failed. Despite emotional turmoil, Arjun started training in wrestling. Under mounting pressure and her father’s wish, Shiva had no choice but to marry Vijay. Vijay quickly agreed, fuelled by resentment over Arjun playing rugby—the sport Vijay had aspired to pursue.
When Arjun tried to contact Shiva, Vijay tricked him by pretending that he and Shiva were already living together, and Arjun believed it. News of Shiva's marriage pushed Arjun into his worst state, causing severe anger issues. Despite performing well in wrestling, he was forced to switch to boxing due to his over-aggression.
Meanwhile, posted in J&K, Shiva obtained intel about a possible terror attack in India by a high profile militant, Mamu Khan.
Shiva's marriage deeply affected Daata, knowing Arjun loved her deeply and would never be the same. This distress and overthinking drained his will to live, and he stopped eating. When Arjun tried to convince him, Daata stated his last wish: Shiva becoming his daughter-in-law. After realizing Vijay's trick, Arjun rushed to meet Shiva, skipping his final match in the state-level boxing tournament, which coincided with the wedding date.
Shiva's ring exchange was planned on a big cruise ship with eight decks. Arjun, reaching the end moment, boarded the ship by bribing a crew member, Bindu. While Arjun napped in the crew cabin, 20 terrorists, disguised as guests, waiters, and guards, hijacked the ship.
They confined the crew to the theatre and separated the guests into two restaurants—males in one, females in the other—cross-checking the guests and crew lists. Arjun
remained unnoticed, as his name wasn’t on either list. The terrorists used guests as human shields and demanded the release of their men along with safe
passage to Pakistan within 12 hours.
Indian authorities had no choice but to comply, especially after a foreigner was killed during a marine commando's attempt to board the ship. Meanwhile, Shiva silently escaped the restaurant, searching for a phone or weapon first.
After learning about the hijack, Arjun became determined to fight the terrorists. Security officials traced his phone activity and contacted him. Arjun ensured the commandos’ silent entry in the dark by cutting the explosive wires on the gates. Hearing gunshots, Arjun moved to deck 5 and found the dead bodies of commandos, fuelling his anger and urgency to act. He filled the kitchen of the restaurant with LPG gas, lured the terrorists there, and exploded it, killing five terrorists at once.
Shiva was captured again before accomplishing anything significant, deceived by one of her men, who turned out to be Mamu Khan himself. As the male guests were freed, Col. Sharma and Vijay joined the fight, killing two terrorists before being captured again.
Arjun fought alone in small battles, using his shooting proficiency and boxing skills during a hand-to-hand encounter with a terrorist. Meanwhile, security officials diverted the terrorists' attention by demanding the early release of some hostages in exchange for freeing additional men and money. The terrorists demanded a guarantor—a leader from the ruling party—for the deal, as their hidden and ultimate target was to assassinate that leader, not to escape safely.
Despite being shot in his left arm, Arjun disguised himself in a terrorist's attire and killed eight more terrorists. He accidentally found Shiva, who had broken legs. He told Shiva he had chosen her over the army, sharing an emotional moment. Wearing a commando's uniform to gain civilians' trust and navigating through ducting pipes, Arjun freed the civilians from explosive devices used as human shields. While moving through the pipes, he discovered a commando held captive in the restaurant and freed him silently.
Together, they attacked two terrorists with knives. Despite sustaining knife cuts, Arjun managed to neutralize the terrorists using a headlock, a wrestling move. Minutes later, a helicopter landed with the leader for the exchange. Arjun and the commando launched a final attack, killing the remaining two terrorists separately. Arjun sustained another
gunshot wound in his abdomen. With two gunshot wounds and knife cuts, he lost consciousness after signalling "All terrorists killed."
Shiva couldn’t marry Arjun while he was alive but did so with his lifeless body.
Arjun couldn’t live as a soldier, but he died as one, receiving full military honours after killing 15
terrorists.
