Maya’s Journey: From Rebellious Teen to Entrepreneur

Maya was a handful as a child—always up to mischief, never sitting still, always testing boundaries. But despite her wild energy, she had a sharp mind and picked up things quickly. In primary school, however, she was quiet, almost invisible. Other kids bullied her, hit her, and when she turned to her mother for help, all she got was silence.

Her mother had bigger things to worry about—Maya’s disabled sister, who had violent outbursts, sometimes even hitting their mother. Most evenings and weekends, Maya found herself escaping to her neighbor’s house, where she felt some sense of normalcy.

It wasn’t like her mother didn’t love her, but Maya knew she was on her own. And maybe that wasn’t such a bad thing. It made her independent. She learned to do things for herself—to handle problems, to figure things out.

Then, in high school, Maya lost her father. His death left a hole in her life, but strangely, it also lit a fire in her. Something shifted inside her. The quiet, scared girl who used to keep to herself disappeared. In her place was someone new—loud, bold, and unafraid.

She sang and danced in class, became the center of attention, and never missed a chance to crack a joke. Studying took a backseat. She was too busy enjoying the limelight. But in the rare quiet moments, she wondered—had she really changed? Or was this just the result of being left to figure life out on her own?

The Fight for a Career

While Maya was busy being the life of the party, her grades suffered. The realization hit hard when she started looking for jobs. Applications were ignored, interviews ended in rejection. Every time she saw “We regret to inform you…” in her inbox, self-doubt crept in.

Would she ever get anywhere in life?

But giving up wasn’t in her nature. She kept applying, kept pushing forward. Eventually, she landed a job—not the dream job, not even close, but it was something. She took it, worked hard, learned everything she could, and made sure people noticed her skills.

Then came the big one—an HR Admin interview at a reputed company. Maya wanted the job, but she also knew she wasn’t qualified on paper. Still, she walked into that interview room like she belonged there.

The hiring manager glanced at her resume and raised an eyebrow. "You don’t have an HR degree. Why should we take a chance on you?"

Maya leaned forward, smiling. "Because I know how to handle people. I’ve been managing conflicts since I was a kid. I think independently, I take risks, and I don’t wait for instructions—I find solutions. I may not have the degree, but I have what it takes."

The interviewer smirked. "Your English is impressive. Where’d you learn to communicate so well?"

"Books, conversations, and life," she said simply. "You don’t need a classroom to master a language. You just need curiosity."

She got the job.

Building Something of Her Own

Maya thrived in her role. Most of her success can be attributed to her hard work, perseverance and most importantly her Attitude! Over the years, She became a corporate trainer at a company,
helping employees develop their job performance, communication and leadership skills.

Maya excelled in her role. Management and employees both praised her innovative attitude at work. She was also a fun loving and easy to get along person. Years went by, and Maya felt a new hunger—to do something on her own. After years of having trained 100s of employees at the company she worked for, she wanted to reach out to more people.

She wanted to build something of her own.

Starting her own corporate training firm seemed like a distant dream, while she worked at the company as a Trainer.

Apart from work, there was one thing she loved, that is her son, spending Quality time with her 9 year old son always seemed difficult. But the arrival of Covid 19 changed everything! Maya worked from home for about an year and got to spend ample quality time with her son. There were 100s of things she always wanted to do with her son and Thanks to Covid situation, it made it all possible.

This is the first time Maya got exposed to online training. She started training employees online.

Maya mastered the art of training people online. Little did she know that it will bring her the much awaited opportunity to come up with her own business.

She quit her full time job, a bold decision in order to fulfill her Entrepreneurial dreams and for the desire to spend more time with her son. She started online training and management consulting with few small firms.

Clients slowly started trusting this young entrepreneur with no big credentials, but with huge experience and expertise. The first few months were brutal. But Maya was used to proving people wrong. She hustled, networked, and made sure every session she conducted left an impact.

Word spread. Slowly, her business took off.

Her company grew, and so did she. The once "touch-me-not" girl had become a powerhouse of confidence and success

Looking back, she realized how every tough moment had shaped her—the bullying, the loneliness, the loss, even the chaos at home. It had all built her into the person she was now.

And she wouldn’t change a thing.
