‘You pessimist, you just cant keep up with my enthusiasm. Every thing ends up in a disaster according to your mentality.’ Susan yelled at her sister, while her inner self would explode out of irresistible excitement she had for her first day as an air hostess.
After rigorous training, weeks of preparation, safety drills and service practice, she couldn't wait for the day she has imagined ever since that one flight in her life when her 9 year old self was returning from a vacation and without any notion , from just a sight of the cabin crew , she started imagining herself to be one of them someday and got desperate for her ambitions. Obviously, after waiting this long, she thought that since the very next day, she's going to be in the prime of her life.
‘Oh, don’t just misunderstand me sweetie, I know that energy and enthusiasm will make the journey even brighter for everyone on board. I just care for you with all my heart, all I want is you to be safe and attentive.’ Anna , Susan’s elder sister justified her self to Susan.
‘ Alright I get it, but you just seem to see me as a kid. Anyways, I got to begin with some basic preparations now, I shall be leaving soon’ said Susan. ‘ ofcourse my dear, go out there , enjoy the adventure, and soar high!’ said Anna.
The next morning, Susan left her room with a sigh and proceeded with the most awaited journey of her life. As soon as she reached the airport, she reported for briefing with the flight crew. Here she met the pilots, and fellow cabin crew, reviewing flight details, emergency procedures, and passenger needs. Once on board , she inspects the cabin checking safety equipment, ensuring seats are in proper order, and making sure all supplies are stocked. As passengers start boarding, she welcomes them with a warm smile, assists with luggage and guides them to their seats. Every move of hers is guided by both professionalism and hospitality.
Every thing goes right, literally beyond what she expected , friendly people, easy conversations, and despite being clumsy , she kept a real good notice of how she performs here, that on her very first flight , she achieved success in making it a perfect one, and so her first flight to Seattle was a successful journey.
Days went, encounters with different people, crewmates, passengers. Some of them were really good, but not all people are the same, people at times could be rude and irritating too. She made mistakes , convinced herself that no one is perfect. Now, she always ended up trying her best that her choleric personality should not show up no matter what, as she gas always been a person who easily got irritated, hated it when anyone tried to correct her in anyway. Irregular schedules, disrupted sleep cycles and personal life was draining. ‘did something go wrong , or this is exactly what I wanted my entire life?’ she wondered, completely exhausted and feeling drained.
After a few days, she met Anna. Saw her on the entrance door of her home when Anna waved at her and Susan , without saying a word , walked to her sister and hugged her.
‘I think I am not really good at making a “happily ever after" for my story. Life doesn't go well as planned, instead we do, according to the plans life made for us.’ Anna patted her, knowing her situation without Susan saying a word about things that were chronically happening. She looked at her , raised her eyebrows , smiled and said ‘ Perhaps.’
A great day would come, it won’t stay forever, great times would come, without assuring its longevity , though it always assures to return after leaving.
Susan has realised that she achieved what she wanted , but the desire is not over, the curiosity is not over and this could be a sign that new challenges are on her way, waiting for her to devour.
She knows what she is, skeptical about how this journey of finding her ultimate destiny would go on, and what her final expectations from life are. Now what she has learned is that every other day would make her curious about future, bring expectations but the progress would still be exhausting in its own way. Upcoming events would make her uplifted , she has to keep going , keeping in mind that no strong expectations results into no disappointments, keeping up with her progress to make her desires a reality. Some times , these thoughts argue in her mind leaving her in a daze. Well maybe , this happens with everyone when personal feelings rebel against practical thoughts. However, Susan knows that she’s her only character in this never ending game of life but the best part is that she can try to win even after losing a lot of times.
