The neon glow of the "No Entry" sign pulsed like a bruised heart, but I pushed through the flimsy caution tape anyway. This wasn't some derelict building; it was the Old Hospital which had burned 10 years ago.
A place whispered about in hushed tones.

My assignment, if you could call it that, was to regain my memory which I had lost 10 years ago in an accident. The doctor had advised me to visit places I had been to in my past, to try to regain my memory , as I was in coma for too long.

The air inside was thick with the scent of damp earth and something metallic, something that made my stomach churn. Shadows stretched long cast by the flashlight in my hand. As I walked in deeper into the building I could hear the squeaking of rats and the echos of bats. Suddenly wind started gushing from a dilapidated window and an old and dusty research paper flew right at me. In that moment I was terrified, every instinct screamed at me to turn back, to start a new life and forget my past . But , I slowly opened the file and started reading it, in hopes of getting back my memory.

Experiment1- Luminosity Extraction Initiative

Subject- 121 - Tervor Zane(35 years)

Todays attempt was nearly successful , thanks to the serum given to us by Dr. Z, we had taken out the the eyes of the subject to insert the serum -Aetheria , to give him the ability to see at night. But as we were inserting his eyes back, Due to excess loss of blood the subject died .

Conclusion - Todays attempt was nearly successful, should be able to see results by subject 150 .
”

As I read further the experiments became more terrifying and horrifying , from what I could infer most of the subjects were immigrants, orphans and beggars ; these experiments were done by a multibillion dollar cooperation called the Aetherium Corp. and the mastermind behind it all was Dr. Z mentioned in almost every paper.

As I ventured further, I stumbled upon a dark hallway and as I moved towards it I could clearly see the office of the head doctor that was mentioned in my map and started walking towards it and as I reached the door of the office I squeezed my eyes shut thinking that my trip to this crazy madhouse was a waste and I would never get my memories back .

I opened the door and saw a painting nearly scorched, in which I saw a reflection of myself.

At the end I hadn’t just got my memory back, but also my real identity.
