I will never forget my past. It was the biggest trauma of my life — something that has left a deep scar on my heart.

How I told the story of my life to anyone — that’s not easy for me!

I married the man who was once the love of my life. We had a beautiful relationship that lasted five years before marriage. Those five years were filled with love, joy, and dreams for the future. But after the wedding, everything changed. That relationship, once my strength, became my deepest regret.

Anant — my husband, my best friend, my lifeline — or so I believed.
Now I know, it was all a myth.

We were childhood friends, then colleagues, and eventually husband and wife. It sounded like a fairy tale. But the wedding, instead of being the happiest day of my life, turned into the beginning of my trauma. There was no happiness, no joy — nothing.

In the beginning, things seemed fine. We even hosted a party at our home to celebrate our wedding with friends, family, and colleagues. Among the guests was our childhood friend, Sonali.

Sonali and I hadn’t spoken in years due to unresolved issues. I hadn’t invited her to the wedding — she wasn’t someone I considered a friend anymore. She had always been jealous of my relationship with Anant. Since college, she had tried to create distance between us because she wanted him for herself. But Anant always chose me.

So, it shocked me when I saw her at the party — invited by Anant.

> “Why did you invite Sonali, Anant?” I asked him.
“You know I don’t want to see her face. You know our history. Why would you call her? Are you two… involved?”
“No, darling,” he said. “She’s here for a job in Mumbai.”
“Did you give her that job?” I asked.
“No, baby. Nothing like that,” he replied.
“I don’t want to talk to you right now,” I said and walked away.

The next morning, Anant was gone. I knew my words had hurt him, but I had no choice. I needed answers.

Slowly, the truth began to unfold — and it was devastating.

Anant and Sonali had been secretly dating for the past five years — the same five years Anant and I were in a relationship. Everything I believed in was a lie. My marriage, my love, my best friend — all of it was a betrayal.

When I confronted him, he didn’t deny it.

> “You’re lying!” I screamed.
“No, I’m not,” he replied calmly.
“I know everything about you and Sonali. Why did you hide it from me?”
“I wasn’t hiding, Shivanshi. I was just waiting for the right time to tell you. I didn’t want to marry you back then, but things moved quickly. Later, Sonali and I reconnected over business ideas. We started meeting often… and somehow, we started dating. I didn’t mean for it to happen this way.”

“Enough,” I said. “Give me time. I’ll decide whether I want to stay or leave.”

I went to my room and slammed the door. I couldn’t understand what was happening to me or why it had to happen at all. Why me? I still want an answer from Anant. I spent the whole night thinking.

But deep down, I already knew the answer.

Those five years were not just memories — they were illusions. I kept hoping it was all a misunderstanding. But the truth was clear. It wasn’t me and Anant anymore — it was always about Sonali and him.

So, I took a deep breath and made the hardest decision of my life.

The next morning, when I woke up, I wanted to tell everything to Anant — but he wasn’t there, just like the previous morning. I was alone in the house. I packed my bag, wrote a letter for Anant, and left for the airport.

I left the city.
Leaving Anant behind was painful, but staying would have destroyed me even more. I didn’t ask him any more questions. I didn’t need any more lies.

That chapter of my life — those five years — is my past. A past I’ll never forget, no matter where life takes me next.

I will start a new journey for myself. It was a very hard decision, but I couldn’t stay in that city.

The memories shake my mind. I can’t forget the good moments between Anant and me, but I will never forget the bad ones either.

There are things I’ve faced that only my heart and mind know — no one can understand them, and no one can even imagine them.

But I am starting a new journey for myself and facing new challenges in my life.
