Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalMeet Bala — a 90’s kid armed with floppy disks, dial-up dreams, and a heart full of unspoken emotions. In a world racing towards artificial intelligence, swipe-right marriages, and hyper-progressive expectations, Bala stands as a confused-but-honest relic of a simpler time. Chronicles of a 90’s Boomer is a hilariously self-deprecating, bittersweet journey of a young man navigating the absurdities of love, arranged marriages, parental pressures, social awkwardness, and outdated horoscopes — all while trying not to get emotionally entangled in a world that demands speed and spark.
From blushing during accidental bus seat encounters, to dodging rishta interviews like a contestant on a reality show, Bala’s story is both painfully real and side-splittingly funny. Through micro-stories, sharp observations, and a generous dose of sarcasm, the book highlights the dilemma of being caught between tradition and emotion, culture and common sense.
This is not a romantic tale. Nor is it a self-help guide. It’s a no-filter rant of a sensitive, shy, and sometimes socially-anxious young man — trying to find meaning, or at least some peace, in the chaos of expectations.
Chronicles of a 90’s Boomer is not just a story. It’s a mirror for the misunderstood, the late bloomers, the introverts — and every 90s soul still trying to figure out where they belong.

Balaji M, a 90’s-born Tamil boy with a flair for storytelling and a knack for overthinking life's smallest moments, is a Business Intelligence Developer by profession and a nostalgic ranter by passion. A native of Tirunelveli and currently based in Chennai, Balaji balances dashboards by day and dismantles social norms by night — all from the comfort of his imagination and a well-worn laptop keyboard.
With over a decade of observing the strange intersections between tradition, technology, and Tamil household expectations, Balaji draws his inspiration from real-life experiences — painfully awkward bus rides, matrimonial disasters, shy silences, and missed "what if" moments. His Second work, Chronicles of a 90’s Boomer, is an unapologetically honest and often hilarious reflection of his journey through the tangled lanes of introversion, arranged marriage circus, emotional roadblocks, and existential comedy.
Despite being an engineer in the logic-driven world of data and analytics, Balaji is deeply drawn to the messy, unstructured chaos of human emotions and relationships. His writing, often sprinkled with Tamil-English slang, sarcasm, and cultural commentary, aims to resonate with readers who grew up with landlines, cassette players, and awkward teenage crushes.
Balaji is not a literary scholar or a poetic genius. He is, instead, a very relatable millennial voice—one who didn't chase a publishing deal but ended up writing a book because he couldn't find one that spoke his language: the language of the everyday, the unsure, and the undeniably funny. His writing seeks not to preach, but to connect — to make you laugh, sigh, and maybe revisit those dusty memories you've long ignored.
When he’s not caught in a mental monologue or dodging family horoscope matches, you’ll find Balaji sipping tea, analyzing cricket scores, listening to GV prakash songs, or silently scripting his next “micro short story” that no one asked for but everyone ends up smiling at.
This is his Second book — a deeply personal, semi-fictional ode to the overthinking, under-loved, culturally conflicted youth of 90’s India. And if you’re reading this bio after finishing the book, just know: he’s incredibly grateful you made it this far.
