M.M. Sasi
"M.M. Sasi, born in Kerala in 1956, is an educator, linguist, and writer who has dedicated his life to learning and social transformation. In his youth, he actively participated in theatre, the library movement, literacy education, the science movement, and political activism, laying the foundation for his lifelong commitment to education and community development.
Later, Sasi moved to Telangana, where, with the steadfast support of his life companion, Mrs. K.P. Annie, he founded the Good Morning Educational Society. Together, they established schools in remote villages, bringing education to marginalised communities. His interest in innovative teaching methods led him to adopt Montessori education, and he later published Montessori: A Brief Guide, a practical resource on this educational philosophy.
As an English teacher for decades, Sasi inspired countless students with his love for language and learning. While he initially recognised Noam Chomsky as a political commentator, activist, and philosopher, it was through the widespread availability of the internet that he became acquainted with Chomsky’s linguistic theories. Intrigued by the concept of generative grammar, Sasi immersed himself in studying Chomsky’s work and linguistic philosophy.
Observing a gap in concise and accessible resources on the topic, Sasi took on the challenge of writing his book, resulting in Generative Grammar (Chomskyan or Universal): An Introductory Handbook.
