Haikus are a short form of poetry originating in Japan comprising three lines of five, seven, and five syllables, respectively.  Haiku no Hanataba is a collection of 100 haikus, mostly on themes from nature including the sky, sea, trees, flowers, birds, rivers and so on as well as everyday experiences (like a chat with a friend or a toothache) and those from the author's various travels in India and abroad. The haikus are arranged in ten separate categories. The book is beautifully illustrated using different styles including pen-pencil illustrations and AI art. Ajay Jugraan

Ajay Jugraan is a lawyer by profession but a poet–writer by heart. He was born and raised in and graduated in law from Dehradun. After graduating in law in 1988, he moved to New Delhi. Widely traveled, he writes poems and short stories as a hobby which are now finding their way into books and over some social media channels. His first book, *Antrang Satrang*, a collection of seventy Hindi poems was published in December 2021 and second, *The Bridge on the River Song and Other Stories from Garhwal*, a collection of 23 English short stories in November 2023. Both the books have been well reviewed by critics and well received by readers. He is on the Editorial Boards of the Vatayanam Magazine published by the Vatayan Group, London, and Kauthig Magazine published by the Uttarakhand Association of North America. He is a Jury member for the Pahadi English Short Story Writing Contest 2023 - 24 - 25. A history buff, he has also worked on some key initiatives of the National Museum Institute as a translator and content expert. He heads the NGO Him Jagriti which focuses on health and education in remote hilly areas and runs sponsorastudent.in program for poor orphaned students. Last but not the least, he is a hobby birder and photographer.
