                                    Nitin R. Gokarn
Dr. Nitin Ramesh Gokarn, senior officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS, 1990 batch, Uttar Pradesh cadre), has over three decades of distinguished service in governance, infrastructure, taxation, and urban development. Alongside his administrative career, he nurtures a deep engagement with India’s spiritual and cultural traditions, particularly sacred geography of Kashi.
He served thrice in Varanasi—once as District Collector and twice as Divisional Commissioner—and as Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth and Purvanchal University. As Chairman of the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust (2007–08), he led the temple’s first major expansion since Ahilyabai Holkar’s reconstruction in 1780, an endeavor he later chronicled in Bhaj Vishwanatham (2017).
A Chartered Financial Analyst, Ph.D., and alumnus of IIM Bangalore, Dr. Gokarn has authored six books. Two focus on leadership and project management, four explore sacred geography and civilizational memory, uniting scripture, history, and lived experience with modern governance.
