Ashok Chippa

Born in 1957 in Mumbai, the author began his early education at a local Telugu school but often found himself running back home to be with his mother. Recognizing his need for a more structured environment, his parents enrolled him at the Andhra Education Society (A.E.S.) High School in Wadala, Mumbai, where he studied from 1963 until his graduation in 1973. He then pursued his undergraduate studies at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai, completing his degree in 1975.

In 1976, he joined the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (I.I.T.K), where a transformative moment awaited him. In 1979, while attending I.I.T. Kanpur, he read Autobiography of a Yogi and became a disciple of Paramhansa Yogananda—an experience that deeply influenced his spiritual journey. He graduated with a B.Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1980.

Seeking further academic excellence, he moved to the United States and joined the Florida Institute of Technology (F.I.T.), earning two Master’s degrees in 1983—one in Mechanical Engineering and another in Computer Science. His professional journey began with Tymnet, one of the pioneering networking companies, in 1984. Later, he became part of Cisco Systems as a technical leader, where he played a significant role in building the modern Internet.
