Shastry, a teacher by choice and an administrator by chance, is the Director of Research and Strategic Initiatives at NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nitte (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru. An accomplished academic, he has authored numerous scientific papers in Pharmaceutical Sciences and believes he has learnt more from the students he mentored than from reading volumes.
