Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalIn the quiet corners of adolescence, every shadow hides a spark.
Set in the lush, rain-soaked valleys of late 1990s Dehradun, Threads of Light is a lyrical coming-of-age tale that follows Vid, a boy teetering on the edge between childhood and adulthood. As friendships blossom and falter, first loves ignite and fade, and dreams unravel beneath the weight of expectation, Vid navigates the bittersweet rhythms of growing up in a world on the cusp of change.
Through the corridors of school, the chaos of monsoon afternoons, and the gentle rituals of family life, Vid’s journey becomes a meditation on memory, identity, and the invisible threads of hope that bind us—even as everything else falls apart. With vivid cultural detail and a cast of unforgettable characters, Vivek Kar’s debut is a tender, nostalgic portrait of youth, loss, and the quiet triumphs that shape who we become.
For anyone who has ever longed for belonging, mourned a first heartbreak, or found solace in the small, luminous moments of ordinary days, Threads of Light is a story to cherish.

Vivek Kar
Vivek Kar is an ISB Hyderabad alumnus with 18 years of experience in senior corporate leadership roles and a brief tenure consulting for the Andhra Pradesh government. A telecom professional by day and an artist by instinct, he has spent years sketching, painting, and capturing the world in line and colour. Threads of Light marks his foray into fiction.
Growing up in a family that moved frequently across northern India—Dhanbad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Saharanpur, Kolkata—Vivek found his first true sense of belonging in Dehradun. His formative years in the Doon valley inspired the vivid emotional landscape of Threads of Light, where the city becomes more than a backdrop; it becomes memory, muse, and quiet companion.
An avid traveller with a deep curiosity for people, places, and the stories that shape them, Vivek has explored much of India and beyond. For the last sixteen years, he has made Mumbai his home, where he continues to blend memory, observation, and creative exploration—now as an author.
