C. S. Shastry, a teacher by choice and an administrator by chance, is the Director of Research and Strategic Initiatives at NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nitte (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru. An accomplished academic, he has authored numerous scientific papers in Pharmaceutical Sciences and believes he has learnt more from the students he mentored than from reading volumes. Hailing from a small village on the Karnataka–Kerala border, his stories draw inspiration from real events and the whispers that floated through temple festivals and yakshagana nights. Seeking a break from scientific writing, he co-authored a book on green vegetables and their recipes.
