EquiVerseSpace is an anthology of creative writing that opens up a new dimension of equality, akin to the ‘swing’ of Jazz. There is poetry, short fiction, essay, discussion, review, book excerpt and the beautiful Japanese short forms - haiku, haibun, tanka, senryu. Emerging and established literary talent from all over the world have made their contribution to this rhythmic flow of shared understanding. There is music in it - born of resonance, and a deep bonding over equality that thrums in its sounds.
Diverse voices, perspectives, age-groups, ideologies have united to create a landscape where the feminine is expressed in glimmering kaleidoscopic rays, is celebrated, and looks on to expanding circles of happiness even amidst darkness and despair. It is a celebration of the sounds of hope in all its
hues, especially the blues. New waves of thoughts forge ahead on the road to equality, where the ‘Modern Fem-Jazz-Word Quartet’ plays on with ideas.
Receipient of the inaugural Kamala Das Poetry Award instituted by Women Empowered-India - Anna Sujatha Mathai, finds pride of place in the anthology.
A range of poetic forms and themes : free verse, sestina, couplets of ghazal, villanelle, experimental & others flow together, creating a sound of the spirit of water ; pay tribute to Begum Akhtar, challenge restrictive norms for women, interrogate atrocities, and take a close look at identity, relationships, belonging, evolution, sisterhood and the power of dreams, new ways of seeing.

ABOUT SMEETHA BHOUMIK
Smeetha is an artist and a poet, and the founder of Women Empowered-India (WE). Her poetry features in national and international journals & anthologies and her art has shown in numerous exhibitions in India and around the world. Her main theme of work is the ‘Universe Series’, which explores the beauty and oneness of the universe in paint and new media, depicting galaxies, constellations, supernovae, star forming regions and more.
