What if learning about money was as exciting as a treasure hunt and as empowering as unlocking a secret code? Money 101 is your child’s passport to a world where rupees, coins, and digital wallets become tools for adventure, freedom, and smart choices.
Step into Ananya’s shoes - a curious 10-year-old navigating the everyday mysteries of pocket money, piggy banks, and the thrill of buying her first storybook. Through her eyes, children discover what money really is, why we need it, and how earning, saving, and spending can be both fun and meaningful. From the colorful chaos of a school fair to the quiet excitement of opening a first bank account, each chapter blends relatable stories with practical lessons that stick.
But this isn’t just about counting coins. Along the way, kids learn to spot the difference between needs and wants, set goals, avoid common money mistakes, and build habits that last a lifetime.
Filled with lively illustrations, real-life examples, and hands-on activities, this book is a companion for every young reader - and a conversation starter for families. Whether your child is saving for their first bicycle or just starting to earn pocket money, Money 101 will help them build confidence, ask smart questions, and take their first steps toward financial independence.

Vinay Gupta believes that the most valuable lessons in life ought to be learned early. Growing up in a middle-class Indian family, Vinay was introduced to the world of money early-on not through textbooks, but through everyday experiences- watching his parents budget for groceries, save patiently for emergencies and family vacations, and discuss the importance of honesty and hard work over the dinner table. These early lessons shaped his perspective on money, responsibility, and the value of planning for the future.
After earning his Management degree, Vinay spent over two decades working in the corporate world. He realised that in the Indian context, children are not taught about basic financial concepts until they enter their college life. This realization sparked a deep desire to make financial literacy accessible, practical, and engaging - especially for children. He firmly believes that understanding money is not just about numbers, but about making choices, building habits, and developing the confidence to dream big.
As a father, Vinay’s mission became personal. His daughter’s innocent questions about pocket money, digital payments, and why she couldn’t buy every toy she wanted inspired him to start conversations at home - conversations he wished he’d had as a child. These discussions led to the creation of Money 101: Money Skills for Modern Kids, a book designed to fill the gap in financial education for young Indians. Through relatable stories, hands-on activities, and real-life examples, Vinay hopes to empower children to become money smart from an early age.
Vinay is passionate about learning and believes that financial wisdom is a gift every parent can give their child. When he’s not writing or working, he enjoys reading, and exploring new places with his family.
Vinay lives in Bangalore with his wife, Sree Padma, and their daughter, Ananya. He hopes that Money 101 will spark meaningful conversations in homes and classrooms across India, helping the next generation build a strong foundation for a bright financial future.
