There is perhaps nothing as enthralling or awe inspiring as witnessing nature in all its pristine glory in the jungles and wildlife habitats of India. This coffee table book endeavors to do that, albeit in a limited way through a set of pictures of select forests and habitats including their many interesting inhabitants. The intention is to create interest through the visual mode in order that more and more people get drawn to the wonders of the wild. Seeing the beauty of the forests and witnessing the wonders of wildlife can help immensely in creating a love for nature in people. With more and more people getting enthused, this will contribute immensely to wildlife conservation efforts.

Subroto Mukherjee
Subroto Mukherjee is a senior citizen, presently retired from active work life who now spends his time pursuing several hobbies and interests which was perhaps not possible during his active working career. By profession, he is a B.Tech (Hons) Chemical engineer from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India with a Post Graduate Diploma in International Trade from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi, India. After having worked with several well-known companies in the field of chemical, electro-chemical, ceramics, petro-chemical and electrical engineering he finally hung up his boots in January, 2014 after retiring from a senior leadership position from one of India’s largest private sector organizations. He has several hobbies, ranging from gardening, horticulture, keeping German Sheperd Dogs, birding, visiting forests and sanctuaries and wildlife photography.
His interest in hobby farms as well as the first-hand experience he garnered while developing his hobby farm in Maharashtra prompted him to share his experiences with people who may be desirous of knowing more about this subject in the Indian context. Hence, he wrote “The Indian Hobby Farmer” which got published by Notion Press in 2021.
His interest in forests and wildlife habitats led him to come out with this present book which he feels can help to create an interest in people and inspire them to visit forests and sanctuaries and witness and appreciate the beauty of nature for themselves. With two grown up and married sons pursuing their careers in different cities, the author and his wife mainly spend their time in Kolkata with occasional trips to interesting destinations and to their farmhouse where they pursue their interests and live their rural dreams.
