Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalAbhik Roy turns his most embarrassing travel blunders into laugh-out-loud stories with smart lessons in cultural survival.
This isn’t a guidebook—it’s a candid, self-deprecating tour of what not to do abroad. You’ll laugh, cringe, and learn how to travel with curiosity, respect, and—most importantly—how not to be the tourist everyone dreads.

Abhik Roy
Abhik Roy was born and raised in Kolkata, India, in a less globally connected world. As a child, he discovered other cultures through books, limited television, and cinema. Driven by curiosity, he moved to the United States, earning a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Kansas. Over a 25-year career, he taught at major universities, published award-winning research, and became known for intercultural communication. Despite this, he traveled little during his professional years. After retiring in 2020, he began exploring the world, starting with China and visiting over 20 countries in two years, often living from a single suitcase. His journeys were enlightening and humbling, filled with cultural missteps that became valuable lessons, shaping him into a more authentic interculturalist. He believes travel teaches curiosity, humility, respect, and humor, and continues exploring.
