Kapil R. Sharma holds a postgraduate diploma and M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), JNU Campus, New Delhi, along with UGC NET. He also earned a postgraduate degree in International Election Management from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai.
Beginning his career in 2008 as a staff correspondent for the Hindi edition of Business Standard, Kapil transitioned to public service by joining the Bihar State Civil Service in 2013. Currently, he serves as an Election Officer in the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Bihar. His innovative voter awareness strategies during the 2020 Bihar Assembly General Elections earned him the Best Electoral Practice Award (State level) from the Election Commission of India.
Kapil is also a passionate writer, contributing social articles, short stories, and satirical pieces to various newspapers and magazines. He has explored screenplay and songwriting, including penning the theme song for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2020, which was aired on National Doordarshan. His creative portfolio includes the screenplay for the short film Dwandva and lyrics for films currently under production. Additionally, he has created promotional material for several government departments.
