‘Hypocrisy & Reality’ is a fiction series comprising multiple books – novels. The fiction is aimed at depicting the hypocrisy of human society in every respect, be it the upbringing and treatment of babies, toddlers, children, adolescents, youths, or be it the treatment meted out to adults, aged ones, those who are closely related with oneself, with one’s blood; not to speak of those called strangers or outsiders. Barring a rarity, nobody cares two hoots for the sentiments or security and safety of other living creatures on this sole planet nurturing ‘living’ beings!
Book 3: Advent of Time (fiction)
‘Advent of Time’ is the third volume in the long fiction series entitled ‘Hypocrisy & Reality’ and covers the schooling period when the protagonist discovered the phenomenon of Time, and also, figuratively he felt that it was then his time, even as, he mysteriously discovered his latent potential and wisdom catapulting himself into the uppermost orbits of glory, fame and all round applause from his classmates, masters as well as teachers. To his own amazement as well as bewilderment! Nevertheless, this providential blessing was not without its blemishes in the shape of rancour and envy of fellow classmates and their patrons towards him. Even as, Nature never allows anybody pleasure and praise without at the same time associating with them the equivalent amount of pain and back-biting!

'Videh' Arvind Kumar
‘Videh’ Arvind Kumar was born on 6th of April, 1957, at a hamlet called ‘Maar-Haraa’ in Jewar Tehseel of Gautam Buddha Nagar distt. in UP.
Despite being a science stream scholar, he has been showing a keen interest in literature all along. His works have been published decades back in the then esteemed magazines such as ‘Kaadambinee’.
In variegated genre he has composed as many as 27 books so far, of which, 17 are in English and 10 in Hindee. Among the Hindee books, there are 03 story anthologies (Anapadh Lipi; Paashaan Yug; Nisarg); 03 poetry anthologies (Aaart Gaan; Kaal Krandan; Ananubhoot Kaal); 01 drama (Ambedkar Smriti); 01 collection of select poetic pieces (Praarthanaa evam Praanaansh). Aside of this, he has compiled, commented, edited and got re-published the first epic of the Khadee Bolee Hindee, the Priya Pravaas; and a book entitled ‘Mahaamuni Vaalmeeki Rachit Itihaas: Raamaayan -- Uttar Kaand’ which presents, in succinct prose form, the ancient history of India as narrated in the most ancient epic.
As regards English oeuvre of ‘Videh’, he has so far published 9 volumes of the long fiction series ‘Hypocrisy & Reality’ (Beyond the Pale; Wilderness of Literacy; Advent of Time; Devoid of Shelter; Price of Refuge; Hatred towards Love; Towards the Yoga; On the Descent; In the Exile) with yet more planned to come. Besides, 01 Comedietta (Chambellion); 01 Short Story collection (Brainy Beasts); 01 Poetry anthology (Bewailing Muse); 01 Drama (Self-Styled Sovereign, the Judiciary); 01 book based on the study of mythological volume ‘Shiva Puraan’ in the present day context (Procreation, the Adorable); 01 commentary book on the first novel – ‘A Pale View of the Hills’ -- of the 2017 Nobel Literature laureate, Kazuo Ishiguro (Nagasaki: Bomb & Aftermath) are other books.
Not only an original writer as well as thinker, but also, a capable and versatile translator is ‘Videh’ inasmuch as he has translated in English free verse form 02 Hindee poetry anthologies, viz. ‘Hatyaaree Sadee Mein Jeevan Kee Khoj’ of ‘Nirvikaar’ Mukesh Kumaar, and ‘Adrishya Kaa Yathaarth’ of ‘Ashwaghosh’ Omprakaash Sharmaa with the titles of the books being seriatim as ‘Search for Life’ and ‘Reality of Invisible’.
To add to his laurels, ‘Videh’ has been honoured with their highest honour ‘Shubham Ratna’ by the institution ‘Shubham Saahitya, Kalaa Evam Sanskriti Sansthaan’ on the occasion of Hindee Divas, i.e. on 14th September, 2024.
