                                    Kanchana Mala
Kanchana Mala is a postgraduate in Tourism and Travel who spent nearly a decade working in the travel industry before choosing to devote herself full-time to her family. Her passion for authentic Mudaliar cuisine was nurtured by the culinary wisdom passed down from her grandmother, mother, and mother-in-law—each an exceptional cook in her own right. An avid cook and seasoned traveller, Kanchana has explored kitchens and cultures across the globe, enriching her understanding of food and tradition. She is also the founder and editor of Mudaliars Today, a free digital newsletter that connects the global Mudaliar community. The newsletter celebrates Mudaliar heritage through traditional recipes, cultural stories, travel features, and tributes to the contributions of Mudaliars across various fields. Beyond food, Kanchana enjoys storytelling and often shares short, heartfelt narratives with her circle of friends and family. Her passion for preserving culinary heritage led her to write this cookbook—a tribute to the flavours of her childhood and the wisdom of generations past. With encouragement from her family—her fiercest critics and biggest supporters—she has presented these treasured recipes in a clear and simple format, making them accessible even to beginner cooks. Through this book, she hopes to inspire a new generation to embrace the richness of Mudaliar cuisine and keep its legacy alive.
