Vijay Shekhar (b. 1974), who has his roots in Palakkad (Kerala), was born and brought up in the Steel City of Jamshedpur (once part of Bihar; now part of Jharkhand). His parents still live in Jamshedpur. His father was employed (now retired) with Tata Steel and his mother is a homemaker. He has a sister who lives in Bangalore with her husband and two children.
Vijay completed his schooling in Jamshedpur. It is the first 20 years of his life spent in the Steel City that moulded his thought process and beliefs to what they are today.
Post schooling, he completed his B. Com and MBA (Human Resources) from the University of Pune.
With 25+ years of experience as a communications professional, Vijay has always been on the agency side of the table and has worked on a wide slate of clients spanning across sectors.
Vijay likes to watch old classic films and mystery thrillers. Over the years, he has developed a good and matured taste for films. Listening to old Hindi film songs during his free time (he ensures that he gets a lot of it) is again something he loves to do. He enjoys reading autobiographies and biographies, and also short stories, his favourite authors being R. K. Narayan, Munshi Premchand, Ruskin Bond, Leo Tolstoy and Guy de Maupassant.
He also has a penchant for observing people, their behaviours and mannerisms.
Vijay presently lives in Chennai with his wife Mira and daughter Anjali.
